Informa employees raise thousands for Prince’s Trust MillionMaker Corporate Challenge

12 Nov 2012 10:53

Million MakersThis year several amazing teams of enterprising Informa employees have come together to commit to raise at least £10,000 each for the Prince’s Trust, in its MillionMaker Corporate Challenge. Each team has to develop an idea and create a full business plan to raise money, as well as go through a rigorous Dragon’s Den style assessment process.  In total, The Prince’s Trust aims to raise over £1million in this yearly challenge to fund its work with young people.

T&F’s enterprising team created a number of events including “WheatStock2012: One night of peace, music and cake”, featuring rockabilly, jazzy ska, reggae and groove local bands.  Other events include Bring & Buy sales, themed cinema screening, fitness classes and sports events, as well as a nationwide raffle.

IBI has three teams, including Team Informoney, Informa’s M&M&Ms and Team Snowball.
Team Informoney’s will be hosting a silent auction, raffles and other fundraising activities at IBI’s award ceremonies, Agrow, Scrip and Insurance Day. The auction includes some great high-value prizes, including a Formula 1 nose cone from the car used by the Williams team in 2008; a Tottenham Hotspur Opus, O2 Box for 5 people to see Eddie Izzard – Force Majeure (June 2013); ‘The High Life’ experience package (including a Virgin Balloon ride for 2 plus dinner at the Guoman Royal Horse Guards Hotel); and a signed photo of Olympic gold medallist Rebecca Adlington. For a full listing of auction prizes with details on how to bid to follow.

The M&M&M’s are based in Manchester and are using crowd sourced photos to create a hardback coffee table book called Hour Manchester. It kicked off on Saturday 22nd September with a launch event and for one month people are able to submit photos of Manchester which tell the story of the city, its people, its community and its soul over a period of 24 hours. Ninety six photos will be chosen for the book, which will go on sale in November.

Team Snowball is focusing on ‘chari-tea’- knowing everyone loves a good cuppa. They are selling branded mugs designed by the team to friends and colleagues at the London offices and via Ebay and Etsy. This is taking place alongside local Chari-Tea parties. So far events have been run in Bromley, Newbury and West Whickham, with plenty more to come! Visit their website for more information at www.snowballmillionmakers.jimdo.com.

Informa PLC supports The Prince’s Trust, the youth charity that helps young people change their lives. Informa UK employees are able to get involved in a range of activities – from taking part in the charity’s Palace-to-Palace 45 mile cycle ride, running CV-writing and interview workshops, or providing 2 week work placements. Supporting The Trust is part of Informa’s corporate responsibility programme.

“The Prince’s Trust is extremely well-known and respected,” said Emma Blaney, Group HR and CR Director of Informa. Its contribution and great initiatives help young people daily. We quickly identified that its work, particularly through its new Internet and Media Leadership Group, would enable us to share our skills and knowledge with young people”.
